Another way students in my Intercultural Communication class ‘learn by doing,’ is by collaborating with international students in completing a project. In the Fall of 2013, my students collaborated with students enrolled in the English Second Language (ESL) courses to complete community service projects. Group members overcame language barriers and differing cultural norms to support a local charitable organization, some of which include Habitat for Humanity, a local animal shelter, and feeding ministries.
